Lions Purchase Hearing Aids

When Corey Stayner of Keystone Health Services needed assistance for a client, he reached out to Lions International. Lions International directed Stayner to a local member club, the Shermans Dale Lions. From Shermans Dale, Lion Ethan Anderson contacted New Bloomfield Lions President Bryan Demuro. Together the clubs wanted to assist Debbie Carr to obtain the hearing aids she needed.

District Governor Lion Peggy Hummel, a member of the New Bloomfield club, assisted in completing a grant application to the North East PA Lions Service Foundation for funds to purchase the hearing aids. Combing monies donated from both the New Bloomfield and Shermans Dale clubs and the grant funds received, Carr will be able to obtain the hearing aids that she needs. Although the check to purchase the hearing aids was written from the New Bloomfield Lions account, the total was a result of monies received from the two local clubs and the North East PA Lions Service Foundation.

Lions International is a network of local service clubs throughout the world working to assist local people with vision and hearing needs, among other projects. Lions clubs also work together for statewide and worldwide projects through foundations that assist with various emergencies. The New Bloomfield and Shermans Dale clubs rely upon local fundraisers, such as the New Bloomfield Lions lemonade stand, to be able to support their work in the community.
